About Us
Cedar Harbor Lane is an editorial reference about knitting and textile crafts written for people who are starting out, with a particular eye to conditions in Canada: long cold seasons, frequent laundering, and the practical questions that come up at a kitchen table rather than in a studio.
What this site covers
The material is deliberately narrow. Three foundation articles explain how basic stitches are formed, how fibre types differ, and how a first project is planned from gauge through to blocking. Each topic is one that later, more advanced work depends on, so the aim is to get the groundwork clear rather than to catalogue every technique.
How the content is prepared
Articles are written in plain language and reviewed for accuracy against widely available public references, including the standards published by the Craft Yarn Council and general background sources. Where exact figures are not firmly established, the text uses neutral descriptions rather than inventing numbers. Photographs are drawn from Wikimedia Commons under their respective Creative Commons licences and are credited where they appear.
What this site is not
Cedar Harbor Lane does not sell yarn, tools or memberships, and it is not affiliated with any manufacturer. It is a reading reference. Instructions supplied with a specific pattern, yarn label or tool always take precedence over the general guidance here.
Contact
Questions and corrections are welcome through the contact form on the home page, or by email to editor@cedarharborlane.org. Because the site is maintained by a small editorial team, replies are written individually and may take a few days.
